Evolution of the Dental Laboratory: There’s so much more beyond just creating teeth…
Speaker: Lee Culp

As dentistry evolves into the digital world, the successful incorporation of computerization and new technology will continue to provide more efficient methods of communication and fabrication. The utilization of new digital technology will continue to enhance the close cooperation and working relationship of the dentist/technician team, while at the same time retaining the individual creativity and artistry of the skilled dental technician and dentist.
These advancements are not something that will “eventually” emerge in the market, they are realities that are currently being released to further revolutionize the quality of dental care that is being delivered in modern restorative dentistry.

The progressive digital laboratory will have the potential to become the ultimate facilitator of design and communication between all specialties of restorative dentistry involved in patient care, as we now have the ability to diagnosis, treatment plan and restore on a virtual patient with multiple combined data sets.

Applying the Hierarchy of Controls to Health and Safety
Speaker: Mary Borg-Bartlett

The challenges over the past year have required business owners to really look at their business operations and make risk management a critical part of their business. OSHA and CDC publish guidelines but each business owner must evaluate the hazards in their workplace and implement controls to protect their workers as well as their business. Once hazards are identified then mitigating that risk before work begins should be the goal of all business owners. A great way to achieve this is to utilize the hierarchy of hazard controls. Mary Bartlett will review how to use these controls to protect your workers and reduce your risk.

Dental Marketing for 21st Century

Dental Marketing for 21st Century
Speakers: Chelsey Phillips & Bryce Hiller

The Dental industry has changed in myriad ways over this past decade – especially over this past year. Some labs have closed their doors while others have grown significantly. Dental practices have had to re-attract patients to build back business after the pandemic hit. What is the difference between those that thrived and those that didn’t? Perception. Dentists are attracted to one lab or another by an image the lab creates. Patients determine what dentist they go to by what they see/hear in media and in conversations with friends and family.

The way the perception is created can be boiled down to one word: marketing. The successful marketing of any business today can be attributed to creativity in several areas including websites, social media, and face-to-face conversation. This presentation is designed to inform small businesses of ways they can effectively enhance their image by using present-day marketing techniques.

Even though our lab has been scanning and milling for years, I chose to attend the Whip Mix Digital Forum because you can never have enough information on digital products and techniques. The tips and techniques I learned at Whip Mix’s Forum were put to use immediately when I got back to our lab. In addition, it was an outstanding networking opportunity. The networking I did there is still helpful to me and our lab today.

This was the first Digital Forum that we attended. It was a very informative gathering. It definitely was not a sales pitch but we appreciated everyone sharing what brand and products they were using to achieve the final product. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the hospitality was outstanding!! Getting to meet people from around the country was fun and we might even be able to network with each other and support one another, too.
